Thomas Dewald from Germany, a world famous tenor, university professor of vocals and a famous performer of arias.
These musicians worked together at the Marinsound studio to record a new album.
The Marinsound Production Centre was the initiator and co-producer of this ambitious project known as the True Symphonic Rockestra (TSR).
During a visit to Germany Igor Marin was involved in discussions about releasing albums by Aspect and Offroad, both produced by Marinsound. The beginning of the TSR project was a meeting between a Marinsound representative and German producer Dirk Ulrich, who had already carried out the recording of the instrumentals in his own studio, Brainworx. The preparation work carried out by the German partner had taken about six years and the rock band and symphony orchestra instrumental tracks had already been recorded.
Igor Marin and Dirk Ulrich, who are both keen fans of Dream Theater, decided to join forces to complete the project. At first it was proposed to have three rock vocalists, but subsequently it was decided the project should be mixed as opera music was to be performed in the style of rock. James LaBrie had already unreservedly agreed to take part in the project and confirmed that he would do so.
The work on the project was carried out at Marinsound studio in Krasnodar from June 6 to June 11. All the recording was done at this time and mixing and mastering have also been completed, and work on promotion is currently taking place.
The project participants have agreed that the project would continue with a DVD and live concerts around the world using Marinsound equipment. Live concerts will use the best tour sound systems, Turbosound Aspect.
“The True Symphonic Rockestra plays in true minor. The album contains 21 songs which were performed by the world famous Three Tenors Luciano Pavarotti, Jose Carreras and Placido Domingo. Our choice fell on the same songs they had already recorded. This repertoire, containing classics which are famous hits today, we believe will attract the attention of both audiences - classical music lovers and rock music fans. All the arrangements for the project were very close to the original arrangements of the Three Tenors. They could easily sing each song as we have preserved their model, arrangements and adapted some of the collection. We added to this rock instrumentals and classical operatic tenors who together performed what we call the TSR project” says Dirk Ulrich.
The TSR project is a typical rock band, including drums, bass, rhythm and solo guitar, to which we added a real symphony string quartet which organically joins the overall sound of the band. All the songs were arranged for this unique musical cocktail. The work on the project in the Marinsound studio was finished in five or six days including final listening, corrections, photo and video sessions, interviews and simply communication. All the participants, James LaBrie, Thomas Dewald and Vladimir Grishko, were amazingly open and funny, and surprisingly simple and nice people. The work was very pressured but the atmosphere in the studio was absolutely free and surprisingly amiable. They are real professionals. |
